Community Pharmacy Residency Program
 
INTRODUCTION
The community pharmacy residency program, established in 1999, is co-sponsored by Deines Pharmacy and the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Pharmacy. This is a one year position that runs from July 1 to June 30.
 
CRITERIA
~ Applicant Must be a graduate of an accredited college or school of pharmacy.

~ The applicant must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Nebraska.

~ Foreign pharmacy graduates must meet the requirement for the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Committee Certification and be licensed or eligible for licensure in Nebraska.

~ Membership in state or national pharmacy associations is encouraged.

 
APPLICATION PROCESS
~ A formal application process will be used to accept residents into the program.

~ Applicants will be evaluated by the director of the residency program and the residency selection committee. The applicant shall provide the following information:

1) Basic demographic information
2) History of academic activity including transcript of pharmacy work
3) Pharmacy employment history
4) 3 recommendations, (i.e. faculty, preceptor & employer)
5) Summary of professional / volunteer activity
6) Statement of career objectives

~ The final selection process will consist of an interview of each applicant.

~ In addition to achieving a record of academic excellence, the applicant must provide evidence of the following:

1) Commitment to pharmaceutical care in a community pharmacy setting.
2) Outstanding communication skills
3) Motivation to discover and disseminate new knowledge through applied research in pharmaceutical care.
